Wanderings and Musings: You never see a motorcycle parked outside of a Psychiatrist’s office…

Oregon

About the time I hit Oregon the sun was staring to break through every now and again with shorter periods of rain/mist. I was due in Albany, OR around 6pm to give Christine a ride on the bike, so I just motored on down I-5 through Portland and Salem. I reached her house around 6:30 which was pretty much on time, met Christine and her kids (Joe and Jessica). After taking a few minutes to warm up my hands which were the worst off from my winter gloves ending up soaked for half of the day, I took Christine out for a ride. We went about 60 miles and gave her a sample of how fun it is to lean hard and go fast. She loved it. After we got back, we had dinner of sausage lasagna, then sat and chatted/relaxed for a bit.

Day 3

Miles driven 510 – Albany, OR to Ft Bragg, CA – 14 hours on the bike

I left Christine’s house about 6:15am as she had to be at work around 7am, and headed towards the coast. Highway 101 is a great highway for scenery, some interesting viewpoints, and relaxing. I stopped at Oregon Dunes, Battle Rock, and Natural Bridges Cove. I also got my first kill of the trip when a bird ran straight into my helmet. I tried to duck, but at 70 mph I didn’t have much time. No damage to me or the helmet, but I’m afraid the bird didn’t make it :(

On into California…
