Drawing – Deer fly
March 26th, 2006 – After not caring for how I represented the feathers on my last drawing, I decided to try something without fur or feathers to work just on lines and shading. A fly seems to have some great natural angles and some great opportunities to practice shading.
Analysis – The solidness of the lines are great and fit well with the subject, but the shading is under-worked and the hair is very basically laid out. They eye was quickly done and should have had more time spent on it.

Note – I’ve decided to start posting my drawings to my blog. For a few reasons… To share the art, to stimulate me to draw more, and to keep a record of them all. Click on the small image to get the larger size view. There will be a small flood of posts as I put up all of my back dated drawings, then only as I produce new works.
