Drawing – Flycatcher

March 24th, 2006 – Finding a subject to draw isn’t so easy for me to begin with. I need something I can finish in a quick amount of time before I get frustrated, and complex enough to make me learn. So I picked up an animal encyclopedia book I had bought for my girls and found a bird I thought I could finish in a short amount of time.

Analysis – The shading is noticeably better, there is attention to detail in the branch and feet, but the feathers aren’t very life-like. The eyes seem to be lacking the spark of life, which I find that I got much better at in later drawings.

Note – I’ve decided to start posting my drawings to my blog. For a few reasons… To share the art, to stimulate me to draw more, and to keep a record of them all. Click on the small image to get the larger size view. There will be a small flood of posts as I put up all of my back dated drawings, then only as I produce new works. :)
