May 25th, 2006 – I chose this picture to draw next for a few reasons. One, the squirrel has enormous expressive eyes, and two, I need to practice on fur. It’s also a pretty cool action shot. In the end I didn’t finish it in the time I had set aside for drawing that day, and the next day didn’t feel like continuing it. So it’s more incomplete than normal.

Analysis – The eyes came out pretty nicely, as did most of the face even though more work was needed. As I was working on the fur of the upper body I started to get frustrated with the way it was going and instead of pushing through I gave up. I also spent time on the feet as they have harder lines. Keep pushing through the displeasure of drawing fur and feathers! It’ll get better if you practice.
