Drawing – Rattlesnake
April 16th, 2006 – I really liked the feel of the picture when I saw it, and it had awesome shading potential. My biggest intention is to work on shading to make the drawing pop out of the paper. The organic lines of animals really fits with my drawing style, but I should push out into some harder lined subjects.
Analysis – I really focused on shading and loved the way the inner mouth came out… also the shading around the eye bumps seem to give a very 3D appearance to me. The veins were drawn in a little too dark, but add plenty of character to the flesh. The eye is getting better, taking the light glints using negative color. I did get pretty lazy as I headed up the body, but it just wasn’t my focus and the scales were taking forever to draw.

Note – I’ve decided to start posting my drawings to my blog. For a few reasons… To share the art, to stimulate me to draw more, and to keep a record of them all. Click on the small image to get the larger size view. There will be a small flood of posts as I put up all of my back dated drawings, then only as I produce new works.
