Drawing – The Great Wall

April 27th, 2006 – I barely got started on this drawing before I just felt it was too much for me at the time. The intricate details of the wall and mountains which at first seemed easy… seemed flat on paper without a ton of detail. I quit after some basic outlines and attempts at getting the overall feel.

Analysis – Can’t tell that the light and dark areas of the mountain is sunlight and shaded forests because it needs much more detail than I was prepared to put into it at the time. Also the wall was going to need so much brick detail to really bring it out. A bit more complex picture than I am up for… But it’s good to document my failings as well as successes.

Note – I’ve decided to start posting my drawings to my blog. For a few reasons… To share the art, to stimulate me to draw more, and to keep a record of them all. Click on the small image to get the larger size view. There will be a small flood of posts as I put up all of my back dated drawings, then only as I produce new works. :)
