Drawing - Vine Snake

posted in Art |

June 21st, 2006 - After the successful Ladybug drawing, I was looking forward to another color picture. In the book I had been using there way a very colorful and eye catching image of this Vine Snake on the flowers. However I really underestimated how much the background made the whole picture and wasn’t prepared to color the whole background in. So to my eye, it looks incomplete.

Analysis -I was unable to get a quality shading job out of the flowers as much as I would have liked. And the snake never felt right to my during preliminary sketches, so I only half-heartedly did much of a job on it. There was a lack of passion in my drawing of this one, and it showed in the overall quality.

Note - I’ve decided to start posting my drawings to my blog. For a few reasons… To share the art, to stimulate me to draw more, and to keep a record of them all. Click on the small image to get the larger size view. There will be a small flood of posts as I put up all of my back dated drawings, then only as I produce new works. :)
