April 9th, 2007 – I occasionally go down to a local bar to listen to ‘open mike’ night. And on this particular evening I thought I’d take my sketchbook and draw as I was listening. I really liked the look of all the bottles on the bar, and just started drawing.

Analysis – This was one of my first live drawings. Something I did as I sat there and just looked at a scene instead of drawing off an image that is always the same. It’s more difficult to get the lines and proportions correct. Also time is an issue, as you may not have to time to finish a drawing and are unlikely to come back to it in the same manner. Overall I would be very critical of my drawing style except that it’s a first of this type for me.
